Year In Review: Our Favorite 2011 Fashion Trends

2012 is so close that we can already hear the kazoos blowing. But before you arm yourself with a fist full of confetti, we wanted to take a trip down memory lane to recall our fashion trend faves of 2011.
It's a no-brainer that colorblocking was hands down the most popular (and we might add, the most fun) trend of the year. While mixing and matching is nothing new for many fashionistas, this trend caused quite a frenzy. Bright pinks, blues, oranges, and teals were definitely our favorite showstopping hues of the year, especially when piled on top of each other! Pairing two and even three bold colors together would be something some "matchy-matchy" folks turn their noses up to. But from the runway to the street, colorblocking amplified the fashion scene, and will more than likely push its way into 2012.
All year long, bold and bright tribal prints were worn by celeb and hipster fashion mavens alike, making 2011 fashion truly upbeat thanks to this chic trend. From Native American-inspired ponchos to flirty Congo beat dresses, the tribal print trend surely added some spunk to wardrobes everywhere.
While in the past, sporting something you found in your brother's closet would almost instantly classify you to be a tomboy, 2011 was definitely a year of blurring the boundaries of women's fashion. Letterman jackets were an especially hot item this year, adding the perfect element of cool to just about any look.
This year served as one of the most influential when it comes to DIYing. The grim days of the economy were especially a drag for the fashion industry, which propelled many to make their own fashion essentials. We all know that trying to imitate even the chicest of runway trends can cost a pretty penny, which is why we adore this year's most innovative accessory: the headscarf! What better way to look fab--even on an unfortunate bad hair day--than with a sassy turban to complete your look? Fashion savvy gals everywhere rocked this easy trend effortlessly.

We can't wait to see what is in store for 2012 fashion! We wish you all a safe and fabulously fun New Year!
