2012 Brit Awards: Best & Worst Dressed!

Yes, awards are obviously the highlight of award shows, but of course, us fashion lovers go gaga over what our favorite stars are rocking down the red carpet. At the 2012 Brit Awards, there were plenty of looks that we were swooning over, and quite a few that had us scratching our heads. So here they are in all of their fab and drab: our Brit Awards best and worst dressed list!

Best Dressed
Jessie J took the spot as our best dressed gal! She looks ridiculously stunning in this lace applique dress by Falguni and Shane Peacock. We love how she looks far more feminine than we're used to seeing her, and yet her edgy aesthetic still manages to shine through. Under normal circumstances, we'd rather not have a clear view of anyone's knickers. But in Jessie's case, this is the least of our worries because she looks flawless! You go girl!
While there was much buzz surrounding Millie Mackintosh showing up to the Brit Awards alongside UK rapper Professor Green, we were buzzing over her stellar Rachel Gilbert gown! There aren't many words for how perfect Millie's look is. It's perfect! That is all...
As fashion fanatics, we're often thrilled to see things that are over the top. But Kylie Minogue and Lana del Rey both look lovely in their simple yet flattering gowns. We love the dramatic peek-a-boo slit of Kylie's blue Yves Saint Laurent gown. It gives it the perfect touch of dramatic elegance. And Lana--although we think her hair could have been a bit more glamorous--looks gorge in ruby red Vivienne Westwood.

Worst Dressed
While we are huge Adele fans, we admit we were a bit disappointed in her red carpet look this go around. Considering the fact that the UK is where the stunning songbird hails from, we figured she'd turn up the style notch a bit. But disappointingly, Adele dawned the red carpet in yet another bland black gown. Don't get us wrong: she looks gorgeous--as always. But the black dress look is a bit overdone, especially since she wore  an identical dress to the Grammys just a few weeks ago. So Adele, we adore you--like we really, really do. But we'd love that much more to see how stunning you'd look in something outside the long, black, and matronly category.
Everything isn't for everyone, and this Alexander McQueen dress--which we are drooling over, by the way--is just not working for songstress Florence Welsch. Initially, we couldn't quite put our finger on what about this look threw us off, but we realized that the dress is nearly the same shade as Welsch's skin. Flo is actually one of the only pale-skinned starlets out there--aside from Kristen Stewart--that can work the red carpet without a spray tan. However, this look is screaming 18th century vampire. Because of this, we would've loved to see her in a black or jewel-toned ensemble rather than the flesh-tones.
We're not sure whose bright idea it was to let Rihanna leave for the Brit Awards wearing this Givenchy dress and leather gloves, but nonetheless, it is surely a failure for Rih-Rih. This gown is a major step down from the killer Giorgio Armani dress she was sporting at the Grammys. We're truly puzzled about this one, and frankly wonder what in the world she was thinking when she slipped into the sequined frock. All we can say is..."eh."
British "X-Factor" champs, Little Mix, took the cake as the award show's worst dressed. While the girl group's debut single  has skyrocketed to the top of the British music charts, we think they've fallen quite low on the style scale. The girls are known for their unique sound that matches their eclectic fashion sense, but they could have--and should have--kept it simple. This is a perfect case of less definitely being more.

What do you think about the looks that made the cut of our best & worst dressed list?
