Fresh Twist on Shorts Elegance!

Spring is going strong now, and while we're all hot-to-trot over the current fashion trends like black & white, emerald, and pastels, we're also digging this fresh take on a classic look!  It's the white short... or should we say skirt?  Actually, it's a skort, and we couldn't be happier to see it!

It's been a while since fashion has cycled back to the skort, the shorts-disguized-as-shorts look, but when this little white number flashed across our eyes, we were thrilled!  It ads such a playful and ultra feminine look to a pair of white shorts, just perfect for the warmer months.

Pairing your shorts, skirt, or skort with a simple, drapey tee is the perfect way to balance the airy, lightness of this casual-meets-chic look.  It is so effortless, you could actually wear this to a brunch, outing with friends, or an evening affair if paired with a clutch and perhaps statement necklace.

The simple strappy sandals add the perfect touch of elegance, and the exposed toes really elongate the legs!  Who doesn't want that?!

So, hooray for the skort!  What do you think?

Angelina Jolie's Jewelry Collection: Style of Jolie - 100% Profits to Charity

Thank goodness there are stars like Angelina Jolie in the world... the ones who utilize their celebrity for the greater good of those in need, and contributing financial aid as well.

And of course, in true fashion, miss Jolie has found a red carpet worthy way to give!  Her new jewelry line, Style of Jolie, is officially on the market, though it may be tough to find.  It's only available in one location in the United States, Tivol in Kansas City, Missouri... not exactly sure why on that one...

The collection contains radiant pieces in the color of the year: emerald, set in 18k rose and yellow golds.  The like was designed alongside Robert Procop.  And to give the line the perfect finishing touch, 100% of the profits from the sale of the jewels will benefit her organization Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, a group that has already built 8 schools in Afghanistan.

So we say, yes to that!

Prices are available by calling Tivol at 816-531-5800

MAC Launches Hayley Williams Collection

As a performer, Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams is not one to play coy. Fearless and brazen, with a voice explosive enough to demolish the very stages she commands, she is no stranger to serving up major sass. Naturally, she’s just as bold when it comes to her beauty choices. Case in point: her signature fiery red-orange locks.

Last month, MAC announced their collaboration with Williams and now it's finally here! Coinciding with Paramore’s latest self-titled release, MAC has officially launched Hayley’s collection featuring nail lacquer, eye shadow, lipstick, and skin finish powder. Considering the line was inspired by the spunky songbird’s iconic vivid ‘do, the colors are everything you’d expect them to be- assertive, striking, vibrant.

The perfect makeup line for any gutsy gal, the Hayley Williams collection is now available exclusively online at MAC Cosmetics.

Essie Nails Meet Ralph Lauren

Just when you thought every nail teaming combination had been achieved, a new one pops up just in time for spring and summer.  Case-in-point: Essie and Ralph Lauren.

Classic fashionistas would agree that a sure fire way to appear put together, and, well, polished.... is to match your nails to your dress.  But how about matching your tips to your perfumes?  Meet Essie's first-ever collaboration with Ralph Lauren, the Big Pony Gift Set in numbers 1-4.

Essie has created 4 nail lacquers inspired by each of the 4 Big Pony scents, and they are available in limited-edition gift sets priced around $45 per set.  And the colors couldn't be more summer friendly, coming in bold blue, yellow, pink, and violet.

Each set comes with a full sized Big Pony eau de toilette, body spray, gift tote, and of course, polish!

I think it's pretty adorable, and makes a lovely gift, perhaps for that sport friendly pal you have!  What do you think?

Springtime Grunge

While most of the fashion world is buzzing around the traditional florals, feminine hued leathers, and color blocking for spring, there's one underground trend that deserves some above-surface attention:  grunge.

I think grunge will forever have a special place in my heart (blame my rock-n-roll lifestyle) and it's especially perfect for spring time as it enters the world of the unexpected, and if done right, can set you apart from a crowd.

Don't get me wrong, florals, maxi dresses, and wedges are fabulous, but sometimes showing a bit of leg under some thigh highs, with layers of baggy can really amp the casual sex appeal.  A sort of, I-don't-care-what-you-think attitude that is both tough yet womanly.

And it's simple to pull off.  The spring staple in this style?  Over-the-knee socks, stockings, or leggings. Next up: plaid.  Nothing says classic grunge like a good plaid piece, especially in red and black.  And when styled with a loose fit anorak military jacket and rocker Tee, you're pretty much good to go.

I also like the use of fringe bags which create a boho element to the style, and embellished boots.

And let's not forget some crucial accessories... well, one in particular:  the beanie.  When you toss on a loose fit beanie on top, the entire look transcends to effortless style, and also just happens to be perfect for those less-than-desirable bad hair days.

Opting to tie a menswear shirt around the waist is also a classic look, a la Pearl Jam.

Give the grunge look a try.  You might be surprised at how cozy and addicting it can be.
