Ways to Wear Spring Denim

(photo: THEDAILEIGH)

If there's one thing I know for sure in this life, it's that denim will alway be a staple in our wardrobe, no matter what the season.

And since the temperatures are starting to heat up this spring, I though we'd take a quick look at some super cute and effortlessly casual ways to wear your favorite denim pieces this spring, starting with one of my favs, the denim maxi skirt.

This pairing is so fabulously casual and perfect for any day occasion.  Pair the skirt with a basic white T or fitted tank, and tie up at the waist if you want to expose a little midriff.  When paired with strappy heels, the look is instantly elevated to a more chic finish.

For cooler days or spring, or a casual night out, try pairing your favorite skinnies with a loose chambray top.  Rolled cuffs and nip tied at the waist keep the look playful, and adding heels and a clutch make it worthy of a fun girls-night out to dinner or outdoor strolling.

And finally, you can take that same chambray top, leave it unbuttoned, and drape it loosely over a top and printed shorts for another effortless look.  Add a chunky statement necklace for added punch, and if feeling bold, top some ankle bootie off with thigh socks for a boho-modern look.  Finish with a hat for the daytime and you're all set.

So what do you think of the looks?

Look We Love: Leather and Denim

The weather is finally starting to cool down (well, unless you live in Southern California like we do!) which means it's time to bring out the transitional pieces that make fall fashion something to fawn over.

Case in point, crop tops, jeans and leather!  This look is the perfect transitional statement look, from the classic cool blue denim to the long tan trench.  Wearing a long sleeve crop top keeps the look light, and on the cooler side for the earlier part of the afternoon when temperatures are still on the warm side.

The long, lightweight trench is also the perfect fall staple, and the neutral color and scrunchable sleeves keeps the look relaxed, making it ultra versatile for many looks.

And then there's the splash of leather!  We absolutely love the leather fedora with this look.  It brings a western element to the outfit without adding an overwhelming amount of leather since the weather isn't cold enough for that yet.

Add a fringe scarf, leopard peep toe sandals and a cream leather bag and the look is complete!  What do you think of leather and denim?

Looks We Love: Tangerine Jeans!

If there's one thing we know for sure, it's that tangerine is THE color of the year!  Not just according to Pantone, or to the gazillions of celebrities seen wearing the hue on the red carpet, but because it has popped up literally everywhere, from street wear, to children's clothing, to home decor.

So this week's lookbook is styled with one of my favorite new items, tangerine jeans!  At first, this color of pant might seem a bit intimidating to work into your wardrobe, but with some light color blocked accents, the hue comes alive in a refreshing, and gorgeous way.

I started off with a beautiful tangerine skinny jean.  They key to working a bright color like this in your pants is to keep it skinny.  The color already draws a lot of attention to itself, so wearing something baggy might just swallow up your body and wind up wearing you rather than the other way around.

Next I paired it with a semi-sheer white button down blouse.  Because it's sheer, I kept it clean and very tailored to balance out.  I added a pink bra to get a small pop of color up top, otherwise go with a nude bra.

I topped off the clothes with a lovely pale yellow blazer.  I just adore the look of a pale, sunny yellow piece to balance out the bold jeans.

Added some adorable, and alarmingly comfortable solid pink bow heels, and a neutral bag that has both a hint of tangerine, and the pink, and accessorized with some pink and bronze jewelry.

And that completes the look!  Perfect for a day out, or if the top isn't sheer, the workplace, a casual company event, or lunch with the girls.
