Pantone Color Of The Year 2021 | Fashion

Recently announced of the year for 2021: Ultimate Gray and Illuminating, a combination of dull, familiar gray and the bright yellow of lemon skin. It’s a choice for the past year of quarantine, a time in which we had to insulate ourselves from the world and curl up in monochrome blankets at home: “It’s a dependable gray,” as Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, told the New York Times.

The gray of cloudy skies, sidewalk cement, comfortable bed linens, gravity blankets, or low-light screens the color evokes our collective experiences over the past year. It’s a depressing summation: During nine months of quarantine, we’ve certainly arrived at the “ultimate gray,” a state of mind mush as much as the color of a product. Grayness means ambiguity and irresolution. Neither black nor white, it doesn’t point toward an ending, just the continuation of an indefinite period. With coronavirus cases still mounting in the United States, that’s certainly where we’re at.

Loving the new shades of the year and want to incorporate it into your wardrobe, here at UrbanOG we provide a selection of fashion items to integrate them into your style.  Check out a few of our favorite HERE!

Pantone Color Of The Year: BLUE

It’s official: We’re all about to be incredibly blue. Emotionally, yes, there’s plenty to be down about in the world, but visually, practically, and actually we are looking to be colored like the sea or the sky come 2020—at least if Pantone has anything to say about it. The high court of color has declared its Color of the Year for 2020 to be Classic Blue. The shade is what most people would call cobalt or royal blue, the inoffensive, omnipresent hue that colors everything from NASA’s space suits to Pop Tart wrappers. This color is a release, a refresh from the strife of our modern era. “We weren’t looking at this as a political message,” she said, and yet this exact share of unfiltered blue is also the color of America’s Democrats, of England’s Conservatives, and of the European Union flag.  Classic Blue is a bold, versatile color to wear. Bodysuits and jumpsuits are an easy way to make a big statement with this fun color trend. What's your favorite blue look. Well the color of the year has been announced!  Wait for it..... it's MARSALA!?!

The color of the year, Marsala, has received mixed reviews.   Some are pretty excited about the deep reddish brown hue, while others are just plain scratching their heads. No need to fret, there are plenty of subtle ways to work in the unexpected color into your wardrobe, homes, and anywhere else you wish.

Marsala, which is actually a wine, is described by Pantone as being satisfying like a fulfilling warm meal.   It is a color liked and wearable by both men and women, and spans a variety of accessories options like nail varnish, lip stain, and cheek enhancement.

It is an earthy shade that is both dramatic, and warming, and meant to provide a level of comfort to those who are not only wearing it, but those who are looking at it.   Both dramatic and grounding, give this shade a try with subtle elements until you can find ways to work it in more exclusively in an item like a dress, or an overcoat.

Marsala may be a hard shade to find in the most basic fashion Staples, but don't worry, now that you're more familiar with this particular color you'll start seeing it pop up everywhere. And don't be afraid to experiment with new and refreshing color combinations, as working with a hue that you're not typically used to can really bring out your creativity.

What do you think of the Marsala color of the year? How would you wear it in your wardrobe?
