Trend Spotting 2020: Faux Leather Is So Chic!

"People would laugh hysterically. But boy times have changed and you see faux leather in everything from fashion, furniture, vehicles, upholstery, and everything in between. Lets’ breakdown the definition of faux. What is faux leather? Faux Leather is also called PU, PVC and also Vegan leather all the same to me. However, according the so-called experts there are a few differences. Faux leather is fabric in nature. Its artificial and treated which gives it the texture as well as the appearance of real leather. The entire product is man-made and doesn’t harm any animals in the process.  With the increasing trend of rejecting animal products for ethical reason, faux leather has gained an immense amount of popularity globally. “They say it doesn’t matter how the animals are being raised or how leather is being tanned. Like fur, leather is simply something no one should buy or wear”. Well, this is another topic and will take more energy to discuss.  Faux leather is definitely the go to material for fall and winter. Its a trend you need to add now. I mean, faux leather is all over the place and so many designers are incorporating it in the new designs and trends.  Not too long ago, I would only see leggings, and biker jackets like this one or this. But now faux leather is all the rage from tops, to shoes, to skirts to trousers, paper bag pants, and more. I’m so happy to see how much we have to choose from!" States, Arrayoffaces. How to Dress Vegan

Dressing vegan.  Ever been curious about it?  Whether you're actually vegan, or just looking for affordable alternatives to buying the real thing, dressing vegan, i.e. cruelty-free, doesn't have to be a chore.  And best of all, it doesn't have to mean you look like a cheap, pleathery, pieced together dresser.

So what exactly should you be looking for when shopping vegan?  Look for any and all materials that obviously are not from animal byproducts like denim, linen, rayon, spandex, and anything with the word faux next to it like faux leather, or faux fur.  Cotton is also a safe bet that spans a massive variety of options these days.

Now that you know what to look for, know what to avoid.  This list includes items like wool, fur, silk, suede, alligator, crocodile, fleece, cashmere and the like.  Generally, when items are made with these animal materials, they proudly say so on the tag, so take a glance if you're not sure.  The price is usually also much higher for non-vegan items than it is for its faux counterparts.

And fear not my friends!  Wearing vegan doesn't have to be a laborious process, nor do you have to look fashionably under par!  There are so many designers, stores, and collections now that feature quality made faux animal pieces, that you're pretty much covered from head to toe with vegan options, as you please.  So say hello to your new faux leather skirts, joggers, and shoes!  They just might be your new besties... well, at least one or two if you're not ready for the entire plunge!

What do you think?  Will you try shopping vegan?
