Runway, According to Michael Kors

While most of us are changing over our wardrobe for Spring and Summer, fashion is already looking far ahead to what's going to be hot for Fall and Winter.  Case-in-point, Fashion Week's showing of Michael Kors' new collection for those seasons.

And the Fall/Winter forecast?  Sporty-meets-uptown-chic!  Yes, while other designers like Calvin Klein were featuring feminine leather silhouettes, and dark colors, Michael Kors switched up the game, playing with high-performance fabrics in bold colors like neon orange, taxi yellow and blue blue blue!

The collection showcased sport separates like camp printed furs and rubber toppers, while the evening looks took an upswing on minidresses by adding dramatic peplum skirts with long, floor skimming trains.

And the shoes!  Pointy-toe is going to be the ultimate must-have accessory for the seasons, and there were plenty trucking down the runway in color block.  My fav!

So what looks are your fav?  What trends are you excited about?

Runway Looks We Love: Oscar de la Renta

Viva la Femme!  That's what I can't help shouting after seeing the pieces that hit the runway out of Oscar de la Renta's new collection that premiered during Fashion Week.

The lineup was all-woman, all-the-time!  From slenderizing cuts and waist enhancing silhouettes, to ladylike frills and swinging skirts, to dresses that plunge-to-there and sheer lace ensembles, Oscar de la Renta is on a mission to highlight the power of the feminine physique, and all it's edgy glory.

We also bore witness to vibrant, bold hues and hi drama accents, from the patterned, floor length fuchsia dress, to the pink elbow length gloves.  Dramatic hats also topped off the looks, and bold teal necklaces and chunky accessories played up the almost comic book, alternate reality of the collection.

A big switch from the darks and leather dominated shows we saw from designers like Calvin Klien.

So what do you think of the Fall/Winter collection?

Chanel's Re-Issued Premiere Watch

Here's a little bit of fashion trivia that may surprise you:  the divine Coco Chanel never designed a watch during her illustrious career.  But for some reason, when we think of extraordinarily couture timepieces, we include Chanel in our list.  Why?  Because the House of Chanel has devoted their excellence in design to continuing on the legacy that Coco Chanel built.

And I have to say, this new watch is pretty lovely... but even better still, they have relased a new video ad for the newly re-issued Premiere, the very first watch designed by the fashion house in 1987.
And the video is pretty sweet if you ask me.  I love the montage of women living their busy, productive, fun and independent lives, all wearing the watch.  As the commercial comes full circle in the end, it really demonstrates the versatility of the watch.

So what do you think of the new watches?  One thing's for sure... the price is not for the faint of heart.  Prices range from around $31,000 to $68,000 for one of these babies.  Pow!

Runway Looks We Looove! Calvin Klein

Leather, leather, leatheeerrrrr!!!  Leather is having a HUGE moment.... scratch that, a huge YEAR this year, and the Fall/Winter predictions won't change a thing, as we've been seeing leather after leather piece strut the catwalk during this season's fashion weeks, happening round the globe!

And who better to demonstrate classic, conservative, clean tailored cuts of leather ensembles than Calvin Klein?!

Creative director Fancisco Costa showcased an outstanding collection of modern meets masculine and feminine lines, all appealing the tougher side of a woman, sporting bonded vinyls, leather galore and wools.

And the outerwear was a glorious addition to the collection, spanning the terrain of crisp silhouetted wools to a sheared alpaca piece that caused a few gasps in the celebrity topped crowd.

Take a look at the collection, which are your favorite looks?
