Tadashi Shoji New York Fashion Week Fall 2014

(photo: Frazer Harrison/Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week/Getty Images)

Textures, subtle patterns, svelte silhouettes, and maxi, maxi, maxi!  These words instantly come to mind when describing the subtle elegance that was Tadashi Shoji's fall 2014 collection shown this week at New York Fashion Week.

The collection featured mainly gowns and maxi length skirts, though some midi dresses found their way into the mix as well.  But this collection was decidedly more gently refined than some of the other, more bold collections shown (think DKNY and Kate Spade).  And we love the collection for that reason.

Make no mistake, there are a plethora of pristine, painstakingly perfected details in the textures and cuts of these gowns not to be overlooked, but admired.  The gowns featured lace overlays, and plenty of velvet in black, red, and midnight blue.  But it's the effortless way the gowns skim the figure, and the strategically placed patterns that make this collection truly shine.

What do you think?  Take a look at the photos.  Which piece is your favorite?

Herve Leger New York Fashion Week Fall 2014

(photo: Joe Marino/New York Faily News)

Bodycon, bodycon BODYCON!  Our fall season wear just got displayed, and it's all about the feminine form!  At least, according to Herve Leger.

New York Fashion Week is in full swing, only 3 days left (boohoo) and we have been gobbling up the sights and drooling over the new collections that have come triumphantly marching down the runway.  Our latest muse?  Herve Leger's Fall 2014 collection.

(photo: Joe Marino/New York Faily News)

Composed of his signature bodycon dresses, and even catsuit, Herve Leger's collection was accented with bold fur coats, velvet textures, jeweled metallic enhancements, and knee length details.  Some skirts swung, some clung, but all were gorgeous.  Add in some seriously body flattering angles, patterns, and cutouts, and you've got THE dress for every woman who wants to feel classic and sexy this fall.  We're especially loving the citrus hues mixed in with the more traditional nudes and blacks for fall.

Take a look at the pics from the show.  What do you think of the collection?

Marc Jacobs' New Collection - Preview

If there's one thing I've learned in the fashion world, it's that Marc Jacobs never fails to surprise and impress.  And after last weeks Spring/Summer 2014 collection preview, once again, the designer didn't disappoint.

Marc Jacobs doesn't confine himself to ordinary rules when it comes to design, and his dedication to fashion outside the box was greatly apparent as his collection appeared as the exact opposite juxtaposition to the traditional "spring" expectations of pastels, florals, and delicate fabrics.

Instead, he sent dark motifs, lacey Victorian silhouettes, heavy fabrics like wool, fringe, and dark tropical prints down the runway.

Oh, and about the runway... black sand, enormous heaters, torn up fashion glossies, teepees, and a destroyed ship.... you know... Springtime stuff!

So what do you think of the collection?

Tommy Hilfiger Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

(photos: Imaxtree)

True to form, Tommy Hilfiger's Spring/Summer 2014 collection did exactly what we thought it would... it delivered!  Tommy Hilfiger is light, bouncy, easy-going, and casual.  A perfect match for simple strolls in the springtime (say that 10 times fast!).

The runway was built as a beach boardwalk, complete with sand and grass dunes on the sides of it, and as an ode to SoCal's surf culture (don't mind if I do!) the blend of The Beach Boys and Red Hot Chili Peppers music set the appropriate tune.

(photos: Imaxtree)

The collection featured beach and aquatic sport inspired attire like wetsuit-like dresses, swimsuits, big bold florals, and hoodies.  If you didn't have a good time at the show, well, you need to get out more and grab some sun, coz the whole collection was about having fun!

New York Fashion Week - Watch It Live!

Oh my goodness!  I can't believe it's time again!  New York Fashion Week has arrived in a flurry of awesomeness!  Marking the end of summer, NYFW ushers in the feel of the approaching fall season, by of course showing us what we'll be wearing in the Spring of next year!

So the only problem, if you're not in NY taking in the gams, hemlines, and show stoppers, you may think you're missing out.... well fret not my little diva darlings!  You can watch practically EVERY show this season streaming live, and we've got the schedule.

Many designers have opted to stream their shows live from Facebook, like DKNY, Diane von Furstenberg, and Oscar de la Renta.  But mega sites like Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week have the entire collection of shows available to watch live, as well as rebroadcasts for those you might miss.

So take a look at the schedule, throw on some couture, and take a seat in front of your computer/mobile device, coz you officially have the best, well, 2nd best, seat in the house!  You're welcome.
