Celebrity Spring Fashion Trend: Overalls

It's the fashion trend that has been gaining popularity, seemingly over the last six months. Currently everywhere, we're starting to see more and more celebrities appearing in overalls.

No while this may be a bold fashion don't for some, many celebrities and fashionistas are exploring the overalls as a major fashion do for the moment.

It's simple really, most often found as a loose fit piece, the overalls basically cover your top to bottom fashion needs. Treat them much like the way you would treat a pair of jeans, paired with a simple either flowing top, or formfitting crop, and your is nearly complete.

We like the way Sarah Jessica Parker and Selena Gomez have paired their overalls with heels, gently folding the cuff of the overalls to show the slender ankle, therefore maintaining femininity with this baggier fit look.

If you're in an even more casual mood, then wear your overalls the way Emma Watson and Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio wears theirs, with a pair of chic flat slip ons.  Animal print give a fun flirty look to a casual fit, and sleek leather flats slightly dress-up the casualness of the black overalls on Emma.

Either way, though, wearing overalls generally is going to be considered a pretty casual look, not necessarily the most transitional ready piece if you're looking for something to go from day tonight.

So what do you think of overalls? Will you give this fashion trend a try? We're not sure how long this trend will stick around, as it seems to be on the briefer side of fashion trends, but you never know. It is after all, pretty comfortable.

L'Wren Scott : You Will Be Missed

Gracious, elegant, demure, and kind.  L'Wren Scott was the epitome of class and sophistication.  A designer first, Mick Jagger's girlfriend second, and a charming icon always, L'Wren's tragic passing today has come as a shock to the fashion community, and the stars like Nicole Kidman and Sarah Jessica Parker who adored her and her creations.

The immediate impression L'Wren Scott made was with her height.  She was 6'3" tall, and strikingly beautiful.  When she entered a room, one couldn't help but be drawn to her.  But beyond her physically commanding presence, which was balanced by her humor and kindness, Ms. Scott was a natural talent in the realm of designers.  She did not study fashion or apprentice with another designer, but rather became one through the study of living an amazing life.  She says of her growing up, adopted and raised in Utah, that her mother taught her she has to go out and grab what she wants out of life.

And she did.  In her 20's she was styling Julia Roberts and working alongside Elizabeth Taylor, and soon started her own collection.  And of course, L'Wren Scott was also famous for her long term relationship with Mick Jagger, for whom she recently designed for.  But make no mistake, her success as a designer is entirely her own.

Her philosophy?  That a woman should be seen as beautiful for her confidence and grace, and that the clothes should accentuate that, not distract from it.

And that's what made her so remarkable.  She was striking, yes, but grounded.

"Because it's about the girl.  It's about the woman.  It's not about what I did."

L'Wren Scott, we thank you for your spirit and class.  For your dedication to your art and for living your life as an inspiration to all of us.  You will be missed, but your legacy will live forever.

Sarah Jessica Parker Sings on Glee!

All of our whimsical fantasies about what Sarah Jessica Parker's office would look like if she had one on camera have just come true!  Couture clothes, shoes, light pillars and accessories galore lined the fabulous office on set for SJP's appearance on last night's episode of Glee!  And it was simply divine!

And did we mention she sings?  Making her Glee debut, Sarah Jessica Parker played a fashion editor while doing a song and dance number mashup of "The Way You Look Tonight" and "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile."

Sigh.  It was pretty much the most awesome thing ever.  What a delightful world Glee is!  Watch the video and enjoy!

Hot Trends for 2012

Happy New Year everyone!  Whether your getting busy with new resolutions, or still recovering from the long weekend, slightly in denial that a new year has even arrived (where did the past 6 months go?!), one thing is for sure, fashion is on the move!

We all know fashion can be a bit impatient for the season changes, and we’ve got a list of what looks like will be some of the hottest trends to come out in 2012.

Pleats!  Pleats!  Pleats!  Did we mention in an earlier post that retro would be big?  We’ll also see the return of sheer skirts (wow), green leather, bold tights, pastels and the return of Euro conservative, and orange galore!!!

Sex and the City Part 3! The Carrie Diaries on CW TV

Well ladies, gentlemen and all those who’ve ever obsessed over Sex and the City fashion, it is official!  There will be a Sex and the City Part 3!!! … well, er… just not how you thought it might be…

The CW network has teamed up with author Candace Bushnell to bring the big fashion to the small screen.  The network will create a series that is adapted from Bushnell’s novel “The Carrie Diaries” which will center around our beloved Carrie Bradshaw’s high school years as they unfold in a small New England town. 

And ready for some more juicy gossip to be confirmed?  The rumors are true, Gossip Girl producers are on board for the show as well, making us instantly salivate in anticipation.

So what do you think Carrie will be like before the “Big” City?  And who would you cast to play Miss Bradshaw?

SJP on Vogue Cover

   The fall issue of women’s fashion magazines are now on the racks and we all know how much we look forward to this issue more than any other issue of the year when it comes to fashion magazines. As for the most anticipated and one of the most infamous fashion magazines out there, Vogue, Sarah Jessica Parker appears on the cover for her sixth time on the August 2011 issue. Shot by Mario Testino, Parker looks stunning in the photoshoot.

 Since the shoot took place in a domestic setting, she wanted her husband Matthew Brodernick and kids, son James Wilkie and twin daughters Tabitha and Loretta to be included in the shoot as well. Parker dons fabulous pieces by designers Oscar de la Renta, Proenza Schouler, Chanel and many others. Take a peek at the gorgeous outfits below and tell us which one’s your favorite!
