It’s about that time to clear out your winter and spring clothing and make room for the trendiest summer fashion items. Beat the heat with mid-length tops, spaghetti straps, distressed shorts, flowy skirts, and skater-cut dresses. Our summer collection is now available in the cutest summer colors and not to mention all the sandals we carry! Yes that’s right we have any sandal you can possibly imagine: flat sandals, gladiator sandals, thong sandals and slide-in sandals...one of the hottest items at the moment is our flatforms and wedge collection which come in a variety of designs. And don’t forget to check out our maxi dress collection for those summer picnics and long outdoor days. And if you are looking for a more trendsetting look then hey no problem, just slip into one of our many romper pieces that are form-fitting and very chic. And let’s not forget the most important piece: Swimwear!

For as long as we can remember summer time has been a fun season of relaxing and enjoying the vibes with family and friends on the beach. As a matter of fact, the 50’s and 60’s were some of the most memorable eras during the summer time. It was the golden era of rock-n-roll & hippies…as well as a time when fashion trends were created. Today’s swimwear has evolved since the glamorous and timeless swimwear from the early 20th century. Bathing clothing as it was called, was more simple and a lot of the women wore traditional swimming dresses. But slowly it evolved into a mini-dress that included rubber caps that protected women’s hair when swimming at the beach. A lot of women during this time were covered in clothing layers even during the hot season. Fast forward a few years and the bathing suit grew into a one piece fashion look that featured flattering sweetheart and square necklines. A lot of the two pieces featured high-waisted shorts with strategic-cut outs, since our country was at war the resources where limited for manufacturers. During the 50s and 60s the glamour swimwear really took off with pin up girls who were attractive and had a glass hour shape. Ruffles, rhinestones, lace, and other ladylike touches completed the retro look. The vintage swimsuits consisted of elastic and tight fitting cut that would accentuate your assets. The summer beach look was completed with accessories such as big flowy hats to protect from the heat waves, headbands on and off the beach, oversized glasses, and fashionable earrings finished with a big hair style. However, today a lot of the summer fashion consists of low-rise bathing trousers, adjustable lace ties on the sides, and strapless tops…as you can tell it’s definitely more revealing than before. Some of the styles that have not changed are high waisted shorts and self tie crop tops, which a lot of us still rock.

Check out some of the old popular summer looks from the early 20th century and some of the hottest trends today.

How to pack the best beach bag!

How to pack the best beach bag!
Summer is ALMOST here and you are determined to spend as much time on the sand as possible! Here is our guide to packing the perfect beach fun bag.
1) The Bag Itself- First thing first, you want to make sure you have the right kind of bag. Keep it from getting messy by using a bag that's easy to clean. Canvas or vinyl and jelly bags are all options that will be easy to clean if sand creeps in. Tote styled bags are a no brainier since they aren't restricting and allow you to stuff as much stuff as possible!
2) The suit!-  Obviously you want to make sure you remember that bathing suit! If you are wearing your bathing suit under your clothes to the beach, make sure you pack an extra pair of undies. Make sure you also include something like a bag to keep your wet suit in after you swim!
3) Sun Protection- You may be determined to cook yourself to the perfect shade of tan this summer but did you know one in five Americans will develop skin cancer? Prolonged sun exposure increases your chances of developing skin cancer and while its fun to play in the sun, why not protect yourself from unnecessary rays?
What better way then with some of this season musts have trends! Pair an oversized sun hat with an extra chic pair of sunnies for a way glam sun safe look! Don't forget to grab a sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays. If you are going to be at the beach longer than 2 hours your sunblock will also need a spf above 30 and if you get in the water make sure its waterproof. Oh... and don't forget to reapply!
4) Snacks- Okay so your gonna be on the sand for awhile so packing a couple things to snack on is a must. Before you grab a sugary soda or crash causing energy drink grab a bottle of water. Your going to be out in direct sunlight and the best way to keep your energy up is with good old water. Skip the candy and pack fruit, string cheese and mixed nuts for protein filled smart snacks that will keep you going.

5) YOU TELL US!  What did we miss? What are your beach bag essentials? Tell us in the comments!

Hello and Goodbye, Summer!

We adore Summer! In California, Summer is a vibrant romance, a day by the beach, and when the sun goes down, here comes the fiesta! We're a bit bummed that Summer is soon  to end. However, we can't wait for next year - especially what's to come in the runway! Although it's a bit too soon, they don’t' say "fashion forward" with out a reason so as a fashion leader, we want to show you the future!

The 2014 Summer Fashion forecast is looking like a hot one! No pun intended. According to fashion blogger Joanna from Fashion Gone Rogue, it's inspired by "fluidity and drapery paired with bold prints and clashing patterns". Sound like a party!

This year, photographer Henrique Gendre gives us a sneak peak of what's to come through his Summer 2014 campaign with the beautiful American star, Karlie Kloss from Animale. This beauty posed in the dreamy photo shoot that is inspired by the island of Bali. Can you say gorgeous? All elements in this shoot describe what Summer in Cali feels like - dreamy, love, fresh and fun!
