Oscars Best Dressed Red Carpet Recap!

(photo: twitter @ellendegeneres)

Lupita, Lupita, LUPITA!  The Oscars, and the fashion world has spoken, and the gorgeous new-comer Lupita Nyong'o is the new darling!

The red carpet fashion this year for the 2014 Academy Awards Oscars show took a similar path that the Grammy's took a month prior:  dark and slightly sombre.  It seems that black, midnight blue, and soft beige were the most popular colors on the red carpet, which were both dazzling, and leaving us thirsty for a bit of color.  But what the gowns lacked in color, they made up for in details like unique silhouettes, fabric treatments, and sparklers.

But the real stand out was Best Supporting Actress Winner Nupita Nyong'o, who looked absolutely breathtaking in a Nairobi blue Prada gown, and now famous Fred Leighton headband.  Yes folks, that headband now has its own Twitter handle!

Lupita looked as if she were floating down the carpet on an endlessly delicate, strikingly elegant blue gown that not only complimented her flawless skin (seriously, her stylist can do no wrong with color choice), but was a breath of fresh air amongst the sea of black and white.

But hey, let's not forget Jennifer Lawrence's bold red Dior gown, which, go figure, the lady fell in once again, and the bevy of white tuxedos the men brought to the carpet.  And of course, there's the ever daring fashion statement of Pharell's shorts and suit combo, which I just love.

So take a look at some photos from the red carpet.  Who was your favorite fashion darling?

Jennifer Lawrence New Photos for Dior!

(photo: courtesy Dior)

Stunning.  One word says it all.  Stunning.

That's really all that needs to be said about Hollywood's favorite golden girl Jennifer Lawrence's appearance in the new Dior campaign, set to roll out officially next week, just in time for the Oscars.

Gorgeous headshots in black and white showcase J-Law's now signature pixie haircut in a perfectly tussled fashion, which is personally my favorite way she's styled the look.  And the soft, natural makeup and demure expression is simply lovely.

The campaign features Jennifer sans pants in a luxe overcoat and snake leather handbag in one, and a texture printed maxi dress with blush perforated satchel and gold chain in the other.  The advetorials are simple, and classic.  True Dior style.

What do you think of the campaign?  And of course, do you think Jennifer Lawrence will be wearing Dior to the Oscars this weekend?

Dior's First Ready to Wear Campaign with Raf Simons!

It's a new year, so why not take a new direction?!  We're all familiar with the ultra dramatic, elegant, and simply vonnegutesque Dior advetorials under the vision of John Galliano.  Well this year, Dior has shifted gears into the ready-to-wear variety, featuring a new collection of images comprising their new ad campaign for the every day woman.

Under the direction of Raf Simons, the collection is portrayed in a slightly surrealist light while maintaining a more relate-able tone to the fashion conscious woman.  And one other change this year:  we've been used to seeing fashion model Karlie Kloss dominate the images of Dior's ready-to-wear campaigns for the last 2 years, but that too has changed.

Taking her place are Daiane Conterato, Marie Piovesan, Daria Strokous, and Anna Martynova.  Brava!

While the new ad campaign is taking a moment to grow on some with its sharp diversion of what we're used to seeing, we're digging the direction.

What do you think?

Jennifer Lawrence to Model for Dior

Christian Dior is transitioning.  They just got a new creative director, Raf Simons, and with that, comes the search for a new face for the brand.  But the search for the most coveted gig in fashion has just ended, and "Hunger Games" heroine Jennifer Lawrence landed the job!

Joining the ranks of such gorgeous celebs as Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron, Jennifer says it's "such a dream to represent an iconic brand that is synonymous with high fashion."  We couldn't agree more.

And what did Simons have to say about the choice?  "Her youth and her classic beauty but also the feminine strength and complexity that she can portray at such a young age are for me very unique and very appealing."

Well congratulations to Miss Lawrence!  And with red carpet season just around the corner, we can't wait to see what Dior we'll likely see her in!

LeeLee Sobieski's Fashion Week Look of the Day

This Look of the Day post hardly needs any words in it.  In fact... one word can really only attempt to do this look justice:  Wow!

During Paris Fashion Week, the gorgeous miss LeeLee Sobieski was spotted (and how could you not see her?) in this absolutely stunning red belted trench by Dior.

There are so many things wonderful about this look I don't even know where to start.  For one, the simplicity of the look is marvelous.  Just one piece, a luscious red coat, accented by a gorgeous gold metal belt over pockets.  The color does all the work.  And then the nude pumps.  They elongate the look of the leg and don't distract from the main focus.

Bravo LeeLee!  What do you think of this look?

Dior's New Promotional Video Shot in Versailles!

Ok ok, yes it's true, we're obsessed!  When high fashion meets ridiculously couture settings and cinematic filmmaking, how could we be anything less?

Dior's new promotional campaign, titled "Secrect Garden - Versailles" is one word: stunning.  Showcasing their forthcoming Fall collection of gorgeous flowing dresses and some very sophisticated sexy lingerie, impossibly lanky models parade down the halls of a glorious setting, all to the soundtrack of Depeche Mode.

But one question remains.... how do those models always seem to be running in heels?  Even in the gardens!

It is a beautiful film by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, starring models Daria Strokus, Melissa Stasiuk and Xiao Wen Ju in La Galeries Des Glaces - Château de Versailles.

What do you think of the film?
