Fashion Inspiration - Stars Wearing Yellow

NATE BECKETT/SPLASH

Looking for a way to instantly boost your mood, and brighten the day of anyone around you?  Look no further than a simple, primary color:  yellow!  What should you do with said color?  Wear it!

Perfection in the spring and summer months, yellow offers an unexpected twist of boldness to any outfit, especially when worn from head to toe.  Sure, you could throw on a red dress for that va-va-voom appeal, but yellow achieves the same attention getting factor, while maintaining a sophisticated elegance that red can sometimes fall short of if the cut is also revealing.

There are so many options to wearing yellow, whether you want to go dramatic in a bright golden yellow like Lupita Nyongo's ball gown, run with a pale version of the hue like Julianne Moore's long sleeved pencil dress, a super plunging catsuit like Ashley Madekwe, or in full out leather like JLo.  Either way, wear it simply.  To get the full benefits, keep it basic, with a solid color, minimal accessories, and neutral heels and your good to go!

So take a look at some pics for inspiration, and give this sunny side up color a whirl.

Ways to Wear Spring Denim

(photo: THEDAILEIGH)

If there's one thing I know for sure in this life, it's that denim will alway be a staple in our wardrobe, no matter what the season.

And since the temperatures are starting to heat up this spring, I though we'd take a quick look at some super cute and effortlessly casual ways to wear your favorite denim pieces this spring, starting with one of my favs, the denim maxi skirt.

This pairing is so fabulously casual and perfect for any day occasion.  Pair the skirt with a basic white T or fitted tank, and tie up at the waist if you want to expose a little midriff.  When paired with strappy heels, the look is instantly elevated to a more chic finish.

For cooler days or spring, or a casual night out, try pairing your favorite skinnies with a loose chambray top.  Rolled cuffs and nip tied at the waist keep the look playful, and adding heels and a clutch make it worthy of a fun girls-night out to dinner or outdoor strolling.

And finally, you can take that same chambray top, leave it unbuttoned, and drape it loosely over a top and printed shorts for another effortless look.  Add a chunky statement necklace for added punch, and if feeling bold, top some ankle bootie off with thigh socks for a boho-modern look.  Finish with a hat for the daytime and you're all set.

So what do you think of the looks?

Jessica Alba's Transformation!

JASON MERRITT/GETTY IMAGES

Well I thought we'd start this lovely spring Monday off with a little birthday cheer!  Jessica Alba turns 33 today, and she's had a long and illustrious career so far!

The world was first fully introduced to the exotic beauty in the film "Never Been Kissed" with Drew Barrymore.  And while I was virtually still in diapers then, I feel like I grew up seeing her as acting royalty, making a mark on pop culture films.

ALEX BERLINER/BERLINER STUDIO

Now she's not only still gracing the screen, this mom of two has built a healthy, organic empire with The Honest Company, where you can find all things organic, biodegradable, healthy, and safe products for caring for a child, as well as tons of information on safe organic beauty products.  Bravo to that.

So let's celebrate her birthday by looking at how she's changed over the years, and cheers to many more to come!

Celebrate Earth Day in Fashion!

(photo: KTR )

In case you somehow didn't already know, and the Google doodle today didn't give it away... it's officially Earth Day!  Celebrated every April 22, Earth Day is a time where hundreds of millions of people from all over the globe gather together to demonstrate support for environmental protection and preservation.

(photo: FASHIONCOOLTURE)

There are so many possibilities for activities today to show your love for Planet Earth, and I thought, why not add the finishing touch by celebrating in fashion too?!  I know when I dress for a celebration, it automatically puts me in a happier, more productive mood, and fashion fashion is at its best when it's inspired by the world around us.

(photo: INBLUEJEANS )

So why not put together an outfit in gorgeous Earth tones like chocolate, tan, burgundy, greens, and sky blues.  Wear a floral print frock or flower print pants for a show of Spring time, or toss on a faux floral headband.  And let's not forget, if you haven't already, now is a great time to try wearing something vegan!  Whether it be vegan (faux) fur, leather, suede or snake, it's a great way to show love to the animals of the planet by wearing pieces inspired by, but not harmful to, the animals.

(photo: CHOINECZKAA)

And don't forget to bring out your boots, because it's also time to get a little dirty!  This Earth Day, take a moment from your busy schedule to join a local group and help plant a tree.  Or spend an hour picking up some trash in your neighborhood or the park or beach.  Or sit outside with an acoustic guitar and strum some soothing tunes.  Whatever you do, just try and take a few moments to spend some time outside, without your electronic devices, and appreciate the planet.  Take a walk instead of driving to a park, and breathe some fresher air!

(photo: CUTIEPIEMARZIA)

The point of today is not just to celebrate the protection of the planet for one day, but to get you excited about celebrating all year long!  By taking some steps today, along with millions others, you might just find you really enjoy it, and do it again and again!  And if you're looking for more simple things you can do today, here's a quick list to help get you inspired!:

(photo: COCONUT )

Turn off your phone and computer for one hour
Plant a tree
Pick up trash in the parking lot
Recycle what's in your kitchen and trash
Ride a bike to work
Carpool to work or school
Walk in the park
Take your dog for a run
Play an acoustic instrument
Turn the lights off
Take a 5 minute shower
Have a picknick
Walk on the beach
Turn off the TV
Call your local city counselor and mayor's office requesting better protection for the environment
Eat raw food
Wear vegan
Reflect on your green footprint

And have fun!

Coachella Fashion 2014

(photo by: Colin Young-Wolff / Weekly)

Coachella, Coachella, COACHELLA!  No matter how you say it (yes it actually is pronounced
"Co-a-chella") with the first weekend over, and everyone gearing up for the second weekend fast approaching, there's one thing that hasn't disappointed this year.... the fashion!  Yes there are some truly amazing bands, DJs, and artists performing... more on that in another post... but for now.... have you seen the outfits?!!

In true form, the hotter the temperatures rise, the less festival goers wear, and the more inventive everyone gets for cover-ups and accessories.  So rather than me talk any more about this, I'll just give you what you want!  Tons of photos (shot by Colin Young-Wolff).  Feast your eyes on all the Coachella fashion 2014 glory!!!

MTV Movie Awards 2014 - What They Wore!

(photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage)

Man... was this a super packed weekend or what?  We saw the first weekend of Coachella fest, and also on Sunday, the MTV Movie Awards 2014.  There was seriously so many Instagram pics, red carpets, swanky parties, and performances this weekend that it's also dizzying.  Almost!

So before I delve into the first weekend of Coachella fashion later in the week, I thought I'd recap some of the best fashion moments from the red carpet of the 2014 MTV Movie Awards.  The show itself was packed with celebs like Lupita Nyong'o, Jessica Alba, Ellie Goulding, Zac Effron (shirtless of course) and Nicki Minaj, wearing designers like Versace, Balmain, and Chanel.  And we saw performances by Ellie, Rihanna, and Eminem.

Take a look at some of the red carpet pics below.  Which was your favorite look?
