Well wouldn't you know!  It's officially National Cat Day!  Yup, we're not kidding fashion kitties!  Every year on October 29th, here in the US we celebrate National Cat Day!  It's a day to celebrate our feline friends, and hopefully spark some adoptions for the thousands and thousands of pets in need of good, loving homes!

So I thought, what better way to celebration NCD than with a furry friend inspired fashion post, with some seriously adorable cat inspired fashion featuring some fabulous gals on Chictopia!  From the amusingly subtle (check out the above-the-knee cat face socks), to the full out cat face and leopard print combo, we've got all your whisker loving fashion prints needs covered!

And yes... my kitty Michael Douglas is sitting on my lap as I write this!  Enjoy!

Halloween Couture?!

(photo: Imaxtree)

Well, being that it's the month of October, and both fall fashion, and fright are on our minds, it's only natural that there be some way to combine the two together, right?

Enter:  Halloween couture!  While this may not have been the original intention behind the makeup looks of some designers, during the current season runway shows held during fashion week, numerous designers sent their models plodding down the runway wearing fabulous couture, and, well.... very Halloween-y looking makeup.

So we thought, hey, this might create some magical inspiration for your Halloween outing this weekend!  I mean, if you're not interested in springing a couple hundred bucks to put a costume together, or don't even have the time, why not dress yourself in something fabulous you may already have in your closet, and get wild and creepy with your makeup?!

Jean Paul Gaultier's Striking New Fashion Video and Exhibition

Jean Paul Gaultier has done it again.... and we're not the least bit surprised!  True to form, the French couturier has created an epic piece of fashion art, both bizarre and beautiful, and he's taking his vision to the Brooklyn Museum.

This will mark the first international exhibition for Jean Paul Gaultier that is dedicated to his groundbreaking design, titled "The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier:  From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk."

The exhibit will feature transformative, playful, and strange elements of artistic fashion, as elegantly depicted in the video above.

The showing will be for several months, so if you're planning a trip to New York, make sure to fit this in your schedule!  Showing from October 25, 2013 - February 23, 2014.

Reem Acra's Fall 2014 Bridal Collection is Perfection

(photo: Reem Acra)

Reem Acra's new Fall 2014 Bridal Collection is nothing if it isn't pure perfection.  It is whimsical-meets-romantic, whispy, fantasy, graceful, and all out alluring, all at the same time.  And there's a piece that caters to every bride's taste, around the globe.

Featuring layers of colors underneath translucent textures, the collection is refreshingly couture for bridal standards.  Don't get me wrong, I love a classing Vera Wang, or conservative romantic dress, but something about the daring nature of this collection speaks to the true essence of what artful design and precision can do for such an important dress.

(photo: Reem Acra)

The designs feature a lot of faux see-through details, bold enough to make the groom weak in the knees, without actually revealing much.  And this collection was well thought out.  The designer took 6 months to work on the designs to make sure the dresses attained couture grace.

What do you think of the collection?

Rescue Dogs on the Runway for Ralph Lauren

Life is really at it's finest when it manages to combine 2 super awesome elements... in this case, 2 things that I love dearly:  fashion and animals!!!

Ralph Lauren trotted into new territory this season, with the help of some truly adorable little furry friends!  Teamed up with the ASPCA, cute rescue dogs strutted their stuff with some models, showcasing Ralph Lauren accessories, and most importantly, celebrating October's adoptable dogs month in a gorgeous video, set in the streets of New York, titled "Ralph Lauren Presents The Dog Walk".

I think the video is just beautiful and delightful in the way it captures the essence of Ralph Lauren's newest Fall 2013 Accessories Collection, filled with bold hued totes, stunning heels, and glistening jewelry, and showcases some truly lovable pups from all breed types.

This is really fashion at it's best, when it seeks out ways to provide awareness and a humanitarian effort.  Dogs, cats, and animals of all types are in need of rescue and love every single day.  Enjoy the video and the Behind The Scenes video, and if you're interested in adopting a pet and providing a caring home for an animal in need, please visit www.ASPCA.org now to get more information.  Even if you're not looking to adopt, you can still help a cuddly animal in need!

Marilyn Monroe - the New Face of Chanel No. 5

What happens when 2 of the world's most iconic figures collide?  Magic.  One of the most iconic women the world has ever known, miss Marilyn Monroe, and one of the most iconic fragrances, Chanel No. 5 are together again, in a most interesting sort of way.

Chanel No. 5 has named Marilyn Monroe the new face of the brand, and while she is no longer with us to accept such an offer, a never-before heard interview with Marilyn from 1960 has just connected the two forever.

(photo: Chanel)

The interview is with at-the-time editor Georges Belmont of Marie Claire, in which Marilyn discusses some of the more personal questions she would get asked often.  It was her answer that has created a marketing frenzy around the two.

The question was, "What do you wear to bed?  A pajama top?  The bottoms of the pajamas...?"  And her answer?   "So I said, Chanel No. 5!  Because it's the truth!  And yet I don't want to say nude, you know?  But... it's the truth."  The recording was never published.

And in a later photoshoot she appeared nude in bed, with a Chanel No. 5 bottle in every frame.  These images were never published, until now.

(photo: Marie Claire)

She was so magnetic wasn't she?  So we'll all soon see a campaign with Marilyn gracing the covers soon, but in the meantime you can see the above video Chanel posted, with the actual audio recording.

What do you think?

Spring 2014 Wedding Runway Looks from the Big Designers

(photo: Imaxtree)

Ah weddings.  It's that time again.  After the smoke has settled from the blaze of fashion sent down the runways of New York Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, Milan and LA, it's time to look forward to the whimsy, the frothy, the delicate and sexy looks of the wedding dresses gliding down the bridal runways.

First up is the above work of art by Badgley Mischka, a flapper-esque fantasy with golden dripped layers of beads, and whispy tulle.  This dress is both romantic, glamorous, and seductive at the same time.

(photo: Imaxtree)

And then there's the always fabulous Jason Wu, pictured above.  This slightly casual on top dress cascades into a mermaid like effect at the bottom with ruffled layers of organza, all in the slightest hint of silver.  Business up top, party on the bottom!

(photo: Imaxtree)

And how about Delpozo?  I'm in love with the tea length gown that is both ultra feminine with the delicate sweetheart bustline and all-over floral applique, and high drama with the full, look-at-me skirt.  And how perfect is that hemline for showcasing a stellar pair of heels?

(photo: Imaxtree)

For those who like a spell of glamour from head-to-toe, I bring you Tadashi Shoji's gorgeous gown, complete with all-over sequines, translucent skyscraper neckline, and ostrich finished hemline.  This gown gives the appearance of the bride literally floating down the isle.

(photo: Imaxtree)

And finally, why not finish off the list with a first ever bridal collection from designer Naeem Khan!  This dress covers any bride's traditional desires with a gorgeous golden cream hue, textured appliques, layers of full length skirt, and a train to frame the entire look worthy of a queen.  And those red flowers?!  Oh the drama!

So, whether you're getting married, or just appreciate the art that goes into "The Dress," which is your favorite look?

Marchesa's Bridal Collection 2014

(photo: Marchesa)

Isn't it crazy how fast time is flying by these days?  It feels like just yesterday I was talking about fall fashion, and now fashionable eyes have already moved forward to the fall 2014 bridal season.  Yes, I said 2014, not 2013!

So let's take a moment, then, to gush about Marchesa's gorgeous new 13 piece bridal collection, delightfully titled "Secret Garden" after the children's novel "The Secret Garden."

(photo: Marchesa)

The collection features layers of handmade floral appliques, airy fabrics like tulle in pale creams and whites, and crystal and pearl details.  And the collection covers a lot of ground, featuring all a bride's needs from a dramatic ball gown, to mermaid silhouettes, to short mini dresses.

Take a look at the collection and tell us, which one is your favorite?
