Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers day everyone! Today we salute mothers in every shape and form. Here's to the people in our lives who took us from diapers to drivers licenses

Here are some of our fave style icon moms:

Beyonce
On tour, recording albums and overall being flawless, Bey still somehow manages to put motherhood first. She's brought motherhood to the forefront of her public persona and shown that while "having it all" is still a hot topic among women, the most important is "having what you want" and not letting anyone define what that role looks or acts like.

Aunt Viv
We won't get into whether Aunt Vivian 1 or Aunt Vivian 2 was better... cause.. that in itself is a completely different post. Let's just salute the lady that took in a young Will Smith while wearing the best of 90s fashion. She was a great mom to her own children as well as her nephew. Aunt Viv  really knew how to rock motherhood a power pant suit

Jessica AlbaSince having her first daughter Honor, Jessica has focused her activism on improving the quality of life of children. She has actively advocated against toxins in children's products and foods and has donated and work with numerous children's charities...all while remaining a style icon.
Marge SimpsonThat blue hair, green dress and string of pearls combo is  iconic. The voice of reason in Simpson household, she's one of the many iconic tv moms that reminds of us of our own.

Angelina JolieIt's basically impossible to have a celebrity Mom post without mentioning this lady.. Mom to six children, Jolie is an outspoken advocate for children all over the world. Another mom who does it all while balancing great style. What famous mom's do you look up to? What do you admire about the mother figures in your life?

Jessica Alba's Transformation!

JASON MERRITT/GETTY IMAGES

Well I thought we'd start this lovely spring Monday off with a little birthday cheer!  Jessica Alba turns 33 today, and she's had a long and illustrious career so far!

The world was first fully introduced to the exotic beauty in the film "Never Been Kissed" with Drew Barrymore.  And while I was virtually still in diapers then, I feel like I grew up seeing her as acting royalty, making a mark on pop culture films.

Now she's not only still gracing the screen, this mom of two has built a healthy, organic empire with The Honest Company, where you can find all things organic, biodegradable, healthy, and safe products for caring for a child, as well as tons of information on safe organic beauty products.  Bravo to that.

So let's celebrate her birthday by looking at how she's changed over the years, and cheers to many more to come!

MTV Movie Awards 2014 - What They Wore!

(photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage)

Man... was this a super packed weekend or what?  We saw the first weekend of Coachella fest, and also on Sunday, the MTV Movie Awards 2014.  There was seriously so many Instagram pics, red carpets, swanky parties, and performances this weekend that it's also dizzying.  Almost!

So before I delve into the first weekend of Coachella fashion later in the week, I thought I'd recap some of the best fashion moments from the red carpet of the 2014 MTV Movie Awards.  The show itself was packed with celebs like Lupita Nyong'o, Jessica Alba, Ellie Goulding, Zac Effron (shirtless of course) and Nicki Minaj, wearing designers like Versace, Balmain, and Chanel.  And we saw performances by Ellie, Rihanna, and Eminem.

Take a look at some of the red carpet pics below.  Which was your favorite look?

Jessica Alba's Look of the Day

So many trends this season, so little time!  What's a fashionable gal supposed to do?!

Why, take a cue from the lovely Jessica Alba of course!  While attending a green carpet event for the Environmental Media Awards, Jessica managed to bridge 4 of our favorite fall trends that are blazing up the fashion scene.

Let's start with the obvious:  color blocking!  I swear I'll never tire of this trend, and the black and white approach creates a classic elegance that mimics the feel of the timeless tuxedo ensemble, without going over the top.  Jessica paired her Narciso Rodriguez blouse and blazer with some loose fit, modest goucho trousers, another fall trend with notes of sophistication.

Another trend she managed to tailor off is the bare-midriff look we've been seeing all over the runways and high fashion streets.  And while bellys are getting a new found glory, jessica kept it classic and upscale event-friendly, by only showing just the smallest hint of skin.

Lastly, the picture perfect look is bottomed off with some black and white cap-toe pointy pumps.  The perfect fall statement for a classic look!

What do you think?  Would you have worn it differently?

The Golden Globes: Best Dressed

Did you watch the Golden Globes last night?  Perhaps you’re not interested in listening to a night of thank you speeches or watching tiny film clips, but one thing we do love, is watching the fashion sashay down the red carpet!

And this year’s awards ceremony was pumped full of delicious and glamorous eye candy.  We noticed a few reoccurring trends on the red walkway:  statement jewelry and two toned dresses.  Oh do we love those two tones!  I think Angelina Jolie was my personal fav this time around in Atelier Versace!

Here are some of our fav looks.  From Charlize Theron in pale nude Dior Couture, to Sofia Vergara in gorgeous mermaid Vera Wang, to Natalie Portman in a stunning two-toned Lanvin.

Oh, and did you see Helen Mirren?  Uh-May-Zing!

Who do you think rocked the carpet the best?

High Buns

Spring is here and that means adding to your selection of hairstyles and looks for the new season. Somewhere between laid-back and ladylike, the high bun is a look that is guaranteed to hit hard this coming season. This style works on long or short hair and is also ideal for tucking away unruly hair. Take a peek at the editors and busy fashionistas walking the streets of NY and you’ll be sure to spot out a handful of them in towering platform heels and high buns sitting atop their heads. The high bun seems to be taking place of the classic ponytail - fast. Why? There’s a certain elevation to the style. A style that says, “I work hard and can look good doing it.” Add the high bun to your list of hairstyles and rock it any day, anywhere for a guaranteed classy and effortless look.
