2012 is so close that we can already hear the kazoos blowing. But before you arm yourself with a fist full of confetti, we wanted to take a trip down memory lane to recall our fashion trend faves of 2011.
It's a no-brainer that colorblocking was hands down the most popular (and we might add, the most fun) trend of the year. While mixing and matching is nothing new for many fashionistas, this trend caused quite a frenzy. Bright pinks, blues, oranges, and teals were definitely our favorite showstopping hues of the year, especially when piled on top of each other! Pairing two and even three bold colors together would be something some "matchy-matchy" folks turn their noses up to. But from the runway to the street, colorblocking amplified the fashion scene, and will more than likely push its way into 2012.
All year long, bold and bright tribal prints were worn by celeb and hipster fashion mavens alike, making 2011 fashion truly upbeat thanks to this chic trend. From Native American-inspired ponchos to flirty Congo beat dresses, the tribal print trend surely added some spunk to wardrobes everywhere.
While in the past, sporting something you found in your brother's closet would almost instantly classify you to be a tomboy, 2011 was definitely a year of blurring the boundaries of women's fashion. Letterman jackets were an especially hot item this year, adding the perfect element of cool to just about any look.
This year served as one of the most influential when it comes to DIYing. The grim days of the economy were especially a drag for the fashion industry, which propelled many to make their own fashion essentials. We all know that trying to imitate even the chicest of runway trends can cost a pretty penny, which is why we adore this year's most innovative accessory: the headscarf! What better way to look fab--even on an unfortunate bad hair day--than with a sassy turban to complete your look? Fashion savvy gals everywhere rocked this easy trend effortlessly.
We can't wait to see what is in store for 2012 fashion! We wish you all a safe and fabulously fun New Year!
As we bring 2011 to a close, I thought I’d write about what
is predicted to be the hottest trend for 2012: the return of the renaissance of the 1920s and 1950s!
While I blogged last week about Tangerine Orange being the chosen
IT color of the year by Pantone, we’re also going to be seeing a mass return of
pastels and candy colors like gold, coral, lilac, cream and silver (Alexander
McQueen Summer 2012 show anyone?).
According to executive vice president of fashion and retail
trend consultants Tobe Report, Catherine Mollering said consumers can expect to
see “exotic safari looks, candy colors, flattering 50s-style dresses and
touches from the 20s” next year.
We’re talking drop waists, waistcoats, and beaded chiffon dresses.
Oh! And don’t
forget the cloche hats! I think we
also have the increased wave of British fashion obsession on Kate and Pippa
Middleton to thank!
Want to see it in action? Take a look at the highlights video form the Ralph Lauren
Spring/Summer 12 collection above!
This woman does it all! Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio not only graces some of the
most coveted high fashion runways, looking stunning in just about anything you
can put her in, but she’s now creating a 2nd angel bun in her oven!
The 30-year-old glamazon broke the news to Brazil’s Istole
Gente magazine, saying, “I’m going to be a mom.”
She’s 4 months along and does not yet know the sex of the
child. This will be the 2nd
baby, with her 3-year-old daughter Anja already bearing her mother’s lovely
We wish the best to Alessandra and her longtime fiancé Jamie

She was dainty, mild natured, and oh-so elegant. And now, 5 of Princess Diana’s most
famous dresses will go on display in an exhibition at Kensington Palace

Jennifer Hudson is the visual definition of a diva. She’s got style, class, confidence, and
a flare for the fashionably dramatic.
New York hosted this year’s VH1 Divas Celebrate Soul this week, and
Jennifer Hudson’s 4 wardrobe changes didn’t disappoint.
On the red carpet Miss Hudson rocked a beige Francesco
Scognamiglio mini dress with decorated thigh high boots, and then followed up
on stage in a fuchsia sequin gown by Dolce & Gabbana. She finished the night with 2 looks by

When you think of Mission Impossible girls, you probably
think of the same standards of Bond girls: impossibly gorgeous from head-to-toe, curvaceous, and full
of attitude. But do you think of
Paula Patton, the new secret agent named Jane, who stars
alongside Tom Cruise in the new movie “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” had just given birth 5 months prior to shooting the film,
and she had to get in shape… stat.
Patton talked about doing “capoeira, karate, boxing, circuit
training… for two-and-a-half hours a day.” She said not only is her reaction time in life quicker post
training, but also she’s feeling a little tougher all around. We don’t blame her!
Check out some pics from her film, which comes out today!
Color says a lot about an individual, and is the basis for
that canvases that create our fashion.
Every year Pantone announces the next year’s top color based on what
they predict consumers will need and want.
For 2012, orange is the hue of choice! Pantone studies runway shows, consumer
habits, pop culture and fabric shows in their decision.
Leatrice Eisman, the Pantone Color Institute’s executive
director said recently, “There’s an element of encouragement with orange…that
we want to move on to better things.”
That works for me.
Will you be shopping this vibrant hue?
Yes, you heard right!
Britney Spears is getting married!
Her talent manager and agent boyfriend Jason Trawick just popped the big
Q on his 40th birthday last week in Vegas.
Designed by jeweler Neil Lane, Trawick slipped a round white
diamond ring around her finger, which features about 90 small round diamonds
along the band. After the party,
soon to be Britney Trawick tweeted, “Tonight was one of the most magical nights
of my life.”
Katy Perry has got something else to sing about. Her new perfume, playfully named “Meow”
was just unveiled in West Hollywood.
While showing off her new haircut, Katy Perry promoted her
new fragrance with an appearance at The Grove in Los Angeles.
The Purr-fume arrives in a light pink hue in a glass bottle
adorably shaped like a cat. It
begins with a peach nectar scent, moves to apples, and wraps around notes of
jasmine blossoms. Just in time for
those last minute holiday gifts, will you be grabbing a bottle?
You all know her name… Vera Wang has dominated to wedding
dress market since I can remember, and with good reason… her dresses are
stunning. To wear the Vera name
down the isle is to wear elegance and sophistication.
So many may be thrilled to hear that Miss Wang is finally
confirmed to dress the men on the other end of that isle!
To be officially announced tomorrow, Vera Wang has signed a
deal with The Men’s Warehouse to make tuxedos with Flow Formalwear, the same
manufacturer who produces Mike The Situation Sorrentino’s line (confusing, I
know). The manufacturer is also
responsible for Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein.
So now, couples can rock the wedding march in matching
Happy birthday to the lovely miss Taylor Swift! Today she turns a “whopping” 22 years
old. Hard to believe looking back
at what she’s accomplished to date, and looking forward to what is to come in
her blossomed career.
Taylor Swift is the youngest star to be chosen for
Billboard’s “Woman of the Year” enchanting fans worldwide with her down to
earth musical approach.
So rather than sing the usual round of “Happy Birthday”
melodies, we thought we’d celebrate with a few photos of her through the years
in some of our favorite looks!
Of the many fashion icons of the world, Elizabeth Taylor was
and will always be one of the truly magnificent and special ones. And her life-long love affair with
jewelry is one of her most enchanting legacies.
Elizabeth Taylor once told a journalist, “My mother says I
didn’t open my eyes for 8 days after I was born, but when I did, the first
thing I saw was an engagement ring and I was hooked!”
We can see why!
Her collection, to be sold at Christie’s in New York on December 13 and
14, contains pieces from 1950s gold charm bracelets to the Loree Rodkin
sapphire set given to her by none other than Elton John.
And let’s not forget Richard Burton. Her long time love gave her many
gorgeous pieces. And with estimated values ranging from $5,000 up to $3.5 million, they make for quite an extraordinary collection Here are some
photos to enjoy! (Images courtesy: Christie's)

Last week the Grammy nominations came out, and in

So far our holiday gift ideas have included solid perfumes
that wear as designer jewelry and home décor, and designer dog collars. Now I’d like to suggest something
practical and equally fabulous: designer makeup bags.
(Below left: Henri Bendel $48 / right: Jane Marvel $24)
(Above left: Smythson $220 / right: Stephanie Johnson $35)
Think about it, you and your girlfriends probably grab your
makeup every day, more than most other items. Why not store it in something gorgeous to look at. Keeping makeup in a designer bag not
only keeps items easily accessible, but simple to throw in a bag and travel
I’ve picked some of my favorites, from high end to
affordable price points. Enjoy!
