Look We Love: Long Jacket, Short Dress

Fall is about transitions.  The leaves are turning to beautiful hues of golds, reds and browns, the sun tucks into bed a little earlier, and the weather temps are cooling.  And one of our favorite transitions about the season lies in our fashion options, mainly, in taking our summer dresses and warming them up for the chill in the air.

This look is simple to pull off, yet endlessly feminine and appropriate for the weather change.  Fall is now in full effect, but we don't want to have to throw our summer dresses in the back of the closet just yet.  Take a gorgeous printed mini, and pair it with a longer overcoat.

I'm especially in love with the bubble gum pink hue of this jacket.  The flirtatious color, over sized buttons, and gathered cuffs play off beautifully with the girly print in the dress.  When you're wearing a longer coat then your dress, it adds levels for the eye to play off of, keeping the look fun yet structured with the tailored lines.

Add a belt to make sure your frame is not lost under the fullness of the jacket, and neutral accessories work brilliantly as you don't want to overwhelm the look by having a bold color or pattern in your accents.

If you want to add even more warmth to the look for the colder areas, add some nude tights to keep the legs cozy.  I could even see a semi-sheer black tight working well.

What do you think of the look?
